Sonny Gray wanted to take his wife, Jessica, out for a nice Valentine s dinner last weekend.

One obstacle was what to do with son Gunnar, just over a year old.

A s catcher Stephen Vogt, his family still up in Washington State, stepped up as babysitter.

Gunnar is so such a great kid, but he s a little crazy, Gray said Saturday after being the first player to report on Oakland s pitchers and catchers reporting day. Vogt came over and watched him. And I said he s crazy, and he said, `I got it.

It was great, but I tried to tell him Gunnar is a little crazy. He said, no problem.

Fast forward to later in the evening.

We were gone about three hours, and Vogt was like `Whew! He said he opened every kitchen cabinet, he s constantly running up and down the hallways. He said he felt like he had a workout going.
