Raj Kapoor

Raj Kapoor, partner at Silicon Valley's Mayfield Fund, has started a blog, called the vc in me....

He's posting about gaming, social networking and so on. He's another consumer Internet guy, and we mentioned him earlier here. Mayfield seems to be scrubbing its image lately, with hires like AOL's Chamath Palihapitiya. Kapoor is the firm's second VC blogger at Mayfield, after Allen Morgan.

Morgan, we should note, is featured in this month's Wired Magazine, in a piece about how he is sifting through the wreckage of old dot.coms, trying to find the old business plans or struggling survivors to resurrect. The piece says he started the project in Jan 2004, and that in Oct. 2004 he invested $5 million in Austin, Texas-based Pluck, an RSS aggregation company, "a retooled version of a company he represented as a lawyer in 1997: PointCast, a famous bubble flameout." Somehow, though, despite two three full pages, there are precious few other details about what he has found or done... Just found the third page, apologies, and there are indeed more examples (sorry, no link), including $1.2 million invested in TimeBridge, followed by another $4.8M -- together with Norwest -- in a second round of investment in TimeBridge. To launch in March, TimeBridge is a revival of a company called TimeDance, and is a sort of calendaring company. But we're digressing badly...

Meanwhile, Om points out that Mike Hirshland of Polaris Ventures in Boston, has also started a blog. He's also a "new media" guy. No coincidence, right, that these guys are the first to start blogging? He just invested in Heavy.com, a New York-based online...

Finally, there's Jeremy Levine, a principal at Bessemer Venture Partnersin New York -- surprise, another Internet software and services guy -- who has started blogging at Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained, and who lures us in with headlines like "comics, topless women, or math equations," only to leave us cold with a general thought on education.
