Moonstorm offers coupons via cellphone
So far, it has coupons for places like Boston Market, Hollywood Video and local pizza joints. This is getting close to an offering that has been obvious for so long: You're walking along, and you go by a pizzeria, and the pizzeria pings you with a coupon. Cellfire doesn't say anything about having location tracking technology, so we're assuming it is passing on this. The service, via Cingular, does apparently use general regional information about the user in order to offer local coupons.
You may ask why you'd need yet another source of coupons. Presumably, it is so you can sign up for coupons from only those sources you want. The service stores them on the phone for you.
By the way, here's a recent Forbes piece we found about one of the investors, Tae Hea Nahm, of Storm Ventures.
