Simple Star, and haven't we heard this before?

Believe it or not, start-ups focused on helping you manage, edit and share your photos/videos are still raising venture capital.

There has got to be a dozen of these. The latest to grab our attention is Simple Star, of San Francisco, which has been around since 2001, and which two days ago named Dennis Mudd, of Musicmatch fame, to its board.

We've also just noticed that Simple Star raised $6.3 million in a third round from Venrock Associates a few months ago.

I recently updated my Simple Star. Basically, all I got for my 70 plus dollars is the same clip art (no new clip art at all!) and the ability to burn DVDs and about a hundred songs (that I'm not particularly impressed with). My main complaint is that Simple Star does not give you the option of talking to a live person to answer a simple question. Just automated responses that are of no help whatsoever. I wish I had never wasted my money on the upgrade. I'm very disappointed and of course, have no way of letting the company know.
