Analysts have been been quick to point out that not many people will be willing to pay $2.99 to watch a TV re-run in such a tiny screen.

I would argue that it probably won't be very long until Apple launches a larger size screen like the PSP... and then it will really become a cool gadget.

Nevertheless, let's not underestimate the potential take-up by the vast mass-market beyond the blogosphere.

Building on the teen panel idea at Web 2.0 (surprise, surprise, listening to the customer is a valuable thing :) ) I have asked young non-techie adults who are iPod fanatics their impressions about the Video iPod. The reaction appears to be very positive.

Anyone else thinking of this as a great gift for Xmas?

Surprise - not!

William Jolitz predicted Steve Jobs would have to make tracks on this *months* ago - on video - updating the PDI/Dreamworks Animation IPO story a year down the line. And illustrates the multibillion switchover in video/web trends hitting advertising & media across print, DVD, broadcast and Internet.

Don't take my word for it - watch "Nightmare on IPO Street" at http://minutepitch.valux.com/william (Quicktime 6.5 - you can even watch it on the new video ipod).

In addition, the Grokster case legal implications are fascinating for this little device - see Byte Online http://www.byte.com/documents/s=9829/byt1123527599311/
