Google research center at NASA Ames?

We can't get Google to confirm this, but we're hearing from a couple of folks that Google is to open a research facility at NASA Ames in Mountain View. The announcement could come this week. This is apparently unrelated to a new, broader effort to create a "technology convergence center" at Ames that would bring together companies such as HP, Intel, IBM and Sun to collaborate on specialized, cutting-edge tech research.

UPDATE 9/27: The announcement on this is now scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
