Pandora getting good buzz
Despite our earlier snark here about its venture backing process, Savage Beast is back, under a new name, Pandora, and is getting some buzz.
You may recall, this is the company that finds other pieces of music that is similar to the particular piece of music that you like, based on a labor-intensive analysis of about 400 characteristics. This categorization, called the Music Genome, measures things like tempo, key and even guitar picking. There's a positive review at Ventureblog. Techcrunch crows about it too.

Pandora is great & the team seems to be a class act, too. I subscribed before the free ad sevice started. I was given the option of my money back or a subscription extention. I listen all the time & discovered many artists that I like, but didn't know about before. I have set up stations for quiet background music while I read, for hard hitting rock when it is time for that & for stations I can listen to when I am working. If they play a song I don't like, I tell them & they don't play it again. If they play a song I like, I tell them & they play more like it.
