If Google and Stanford are doing 3D maps, why not Berkeley?
We reported a while back about Google's plans to develop 3D maps of San Francisco with trucks equipped with lasers and digital photographic, and related Stanford research -- unearthed by SEW. Now Slashdot points us to UC Berkeley's unrelated research project to do 3D maps of Berkeley.

Trucks with lasers and digital cameras? Seems very 'Star Wars' when companies have the technology to do it in scalable fashion today... see www.3DVU.com...
