Oracle Starts Bidding War With SAP to Purchase RetekOracle Corp., the world's No. 2 maker of business-management software, plans to offer to buy Retek Inc. for $504 million, trumping a bid from bigger rival SAP AG. Oracle said in a statement today it has acquired 10 percent of Retek, or 5.5 million shares, in the past two days. SAP offered about $496 million for Minneapolis-based Retek Feb. 28.
