PG&E is reminding customers that the deadline to file insurance claims against the utility related to 2017 and 2018 Northern California fires, including the deadly 2018 Camp Fire, is 5 p.m. Tuesday.
“Claims related to the Northern California fires that arose prior to January 29, 2019, must be filed in PG&E’s Chapter 11 cases and received no later than the deadline of December 31, 2019, at 5:00 p.m,” Pacific Gas and Electric Co. said in a news release. “If any person or entity believes money is owed to them by PG&E for loss or injury resulting from the Northern California fires that arose before PG&E filed for Chapter 11 on January 29, 2019, then they must file a Proof of Claim before the Bar Date.”
Claims can be filed online at www.officialfireclaims.com, by mail to PG&E’s claims processing center, or in person at one of six PG&E claim service centers.
Those centers are located at:
350 Salem Street, Chico
231 D Street, Marysville
1850 Soscol Ave., Suite 105, Napa
1567 Huntoon Street, Oroville
3600 Meadow View Road, Redding
111 Stony Circle, Santa Rosa
These centers will be open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
The wildfires include but are not limited to: the 37, Adobe, Atlas, Blue, Butte, Camp, Cascade, Cherokee, Ghost Ship, Honey, La Porte, Lobo, Maacama, McCourtney, Norrbom, Nuns, Partrick, Pocket, Point, Pressley, Pythian (aka Oakmont), Redwood, Sullivan, Sulphur and Tubbs fires, according to PG&E’s website.
Faulty PG&E equipment has been determined by Cal Fire investigators to be the cause of a number of wildfires in Northern California since 2017, including the November 2018 Camp Fire, which ravaged the Butte County town of Paradise, killing 86 people and destroying thousands of homes.
PG&E filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January and began accepting insurance claims later in the year. The deadline had previously been set for Oct. 21, but was later extended through the end of the year.
