Apple acquires Workflow, maker of popular automation app for iOS

Apple has added Workflow to its arsenal.

Several publications such as the Guardian confirmed that Apple has acquired Workflow, a popular app that is used to automate actions and activities done on iPhones and iPads. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. The acquisition includes San Francisco-based Workflow’s technology and its small team of designers.

The Workflow app allows users to tie together different actions with a single tap of a button. The purpose of the app is to simplify the number of steps a user has to take to complete activities such as creating reports, texting items to multiple users and saving documents in the cloud.

Workflow had received many accolades for its design and ease of use, and Apple gave the app one of its design awards in 2015.

One immediate impact of the acquisition was seen when Apple dropped the price of the app from $2.99 to free on its App Store.

Apple didn’t immediately return a request for comment from SiliconBeat.
