Trump and Russia dossier: 4chan takes credit for ‘golden showers’

As if the story about Donald Trump and compromising information Russians allegedly have on him couldn’t get any crazier, 4chan has added itself to the mix.

That’s right, 4chan, the infamous bulletin board that’s home to much questionable content — including hosting the leaked celebrity nude photos a few years ago, for example — claims that the “golden showers” story that’s included in the supposed Russian dossier on the president-elect of the United States originated on 4chan.

CNN reported Tuesday that U.S. intelligence agencies had told Trump that Russians claimed to have “kompromat,” or personal and financial dirt, on him. BuzzFeed then published the dossier, whose many unsubstantiated memos and claims include a supposed encounter that involved prostitutes, Trump and urine — as well as supposed ties between Trump, his people and Russia.

Trump and his camp are calling those claims “fake news,” with the president-elect tweeting that the release of the allegations was “very unfair,” and taking aim at U.S. intelligence agencies. Trump also noted that Russia denies having any dirt on him.

The Trump defense is being echoed by some Twitter and Reddit users, who are in turn pointing to 4chan’s claims that the golden showers tidbit came from the site.

From an anonymous post on 4chan on Nov. 1: “So they took what I told Rick Wilson and added a Russian spy angle to it. They still believe it. Guys, they’re truly [expletive] desperate — there’s no remaining Trump scandal that’s credible.”

In other words, the people decrying unsubstantiated news they are calling fake are fighting it by putting their trust in an anonymous claim on the notorious 4chan.

Wilson, a Republican political strategist, tweeted Tuesday that he was not BuzzFeed’s source.

Wilson told the Daily Beast that the Russian allegations have been making the rounds for a year and a half. In addition, Mother Jones reported on Oct. 31 about the information being given to the FBI, the day before the anonymous post on 4chan. The New York Times reports that details about the memos began circulating in the fall.

Does anyone think that what he does or has done matters to his simple minded supporters. I mean did we not see what kind of person he was during the election and still received almost 50 percent of the vote.
