Google Search to provide federal, state election results

For what will no doubt be one of the most closely and anxiously watched elections in U.S. history, Google will integrate results into Search.

Typing in “election results” will bring up state-by-state and national results — and updates — for president, the U.S. Senate, House and governors, plus state-level referendums and ballot propositions, according to Google.

Data, sourced from the Associated Press, will become available via Search after polls close.

Also of potential help to those bound for the ballot box are “where to vote” Google searches. Users can type in the address where they’re registered to vote, and Search will bring up their polling place, complete with a map.

For people interested in live news coverage on Election Day, Google has increased the number of networks whose election results coverage will be live-streamed on YouTube. Starting at 4 p.m., YouTube will stream coverage from NBC, PBS, MTV, Bloomberg, Telemundo and The Young Turks.
