Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz giving $20 million to beat Donald Trump

Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz has pledged $20 million to help Hillary Clinton win the presidency and defeat Donald Trump.

In a Medium post late Thursday, Moskovitz wrote that he and his wife, Cari Tuna, have never given to a presidential candidate before but felt “compelled to act” given the stakes in November’s election.

“We cannot ignore the remarkable alignment between these two visions for society and the choices in this year’s election,” he wrote. “The Republican Party, and Donald Trump in particular, is running on a zero-sum vision, stressing a false contest between their constituency and the rest of the world.”

Moskovitz, who was Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s roommate at Harvard, has a net worth of $10.5 billion, according to Forbes. In 2008, he left Facebook to co-found Asana, a maker of work-collaboration software, and is its chief executive.

In July, Moskovitz was one of about 150 tech CEOs, investors and academics and others who signed an open letter calling Trump “a disaster for innovation.” The tech industry has for the most part been no friend to Trump, speaking out loudly against the candidate’s immigration policies and more. Last month, venture capital firm Charles River Ventures went as far as to feature the words “F*ck Trump” on its home page.

Among Trump’s only supporters from the tech industry is billionaire entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel, who earlier this week wrote in a Washington Post op-ed that “Trump’s heretical denial of Republican dogma about government incapacity is exactly what we need to move the party — and the country — in a new direction.”

With their donation, Moskovitz and Tuna — a former reporter who now heads Good Ventures, the couple’s philanthropic foundation — become the second-largest contributors to the Democrats in this election after hedge fund billionaire Tom Steyer, according to the Associated Press. OpenSecrets.org, the Center for Responsive Politics website that tracks contributions, shows that Steyer has given nearly $40 million to Democrats/Liberals in this election cycle.

Moskovitz said the money will go to the Clinton campaign, other Democratic committees, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Victory Fund, MoveOn.org and other organizations.

“We hope these efforts make it a little more likely that Secretary Clinton is able to pursue the agenda she’s outlined, and serve as a signal to the Republican Party that by running this kind of campaign — one built on fear and hostility — and supporting this kind of candidate, they compel people to act in response,” he wrote.

And Trump has conned the GOP out of any self respect they had left.

Self respect?? While her Billy was getting BJs, she looked the other way. Let me sum her up. A money grubbing, power hungry, liar. I could go on/

        • EllaFino

I could tell you the things Trump is and the lies he has told but it would be as long as a Stephen King novel and just as creepy.

OUTRAGEOUS, that money will go to harm Americans. The dems are gone, these people in power frauds. Dem Party of O and H are lacking in American’s best interest:

INDEPENDENTS: Obama admin openly gave IRAN 1.7 billion and shrouded in secrecy 12-33 billion U.S. tax dollars in unmarked bills and gold. The unmarked bills, was done to prevent tracking to determine if the money will be used for terror activity against the U.S. And the Obama admin just keeps saying, it’s money we owed them…

DECODING HILLARY’S E-MAILS: Hillary has disclosed plans to bring 550,000 to probably millions of undocumented refugees to the U.S., because the president by law sets the amount admitted each year. Terror sympathizing countries and Saudi Arabia have given tens of millions in donations to the Clintons’ Foundation. The intentions of terror sympathizing countries are to spread terrorism to the U.S. and use Hillary’s Oval office and influence over taxpayer’s money to pay for it. Saudi Arabia refuses to take in any Syrian refugees because the risks of terrorism are too high and the closed-door plan helps spread terrorist to the west.

Obama’s policies have contributed to the MASSACRE of Boston, Orlando and possibly L.A. communities. Under Obama’s directives, SUPPRESSING INFORMATION about religious ties to terrorism has deterred obligations to monitor radicals living in the U.S. As evidence by, the FBI interviewed the Boston bombers twice and the Orlando shooter was interviewed 3 times prior to the terror attacks.

Being of Jewish heritage, it seems worrisome that fellow Jews would denounce a candidate that has clearly shown his commitment to US-Israel relations. I fear the love of money and faithless members of the Jewish community are more focused on a progressive agenda. Interesting to note that Mr. Trump’s wife is a Jew and his daughter is a converted Jew married to a Jew. Mr. Trump is hardly a threat to Jews and he is certainly not a racist if you know anything about this New Yorker’s life and the rainbow of people whose lives he has touched in a positive way. With that said, I am an undecided independent voter, keeping my eyes open as I study both candidates for honesty, integrity, and the strength to put America’s interests at the forefront.

    • You can say honesty and integrity in the same sentence with Clinton? Wow – Twilight Zone.

  • Of course Moscow-wits gave to defeat Trump. Otherwise he would’ve been excluded from the year-end bombers’ and oppressor’s party at the Pentagon.
