Facebook s Messenger app looks a little different today, as the company updated it to make it easier to start chatting with others.

South Korean electronics behemoth Samsung is acquiring cloud-services company Joyent, of San Francisco, for an undisclosed amount. The deal is seen as a play by Samsung to build up its own cloud-based offerings.

Uber agreed to pay $7.5 million to settle a lawsuit brought by drivers in San Francisco over background checks.

Twitter makes its live button for Periscope available to everyone. Now, when you re doing a tweet, you can tap on the live button to start up Periscope instead of having to leave the app to do so.

Cavium shares are tanking by as much as 17 percent after the San Jose chipmaker said late Wednesday it will acquire QLogic for $1.36 billion.
