Zuckerberg-backed immigration group Fwd.us gears up for 2016 election

An advocacy group backed by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other tech titans failed in the past to change the country’s immigration laws, but now the organization is making another play in the 2016 election cycle.

The group, Fwd.us, could spend as much as $10 million over the next year on digital and TV ads, research and polling, POLITICO reports. The campaign would focus on the expansion of its ground operation into 12 states, focusing on presidential battlegrounds and targeted House seats held by Republicans.

Meanwhile, GOP-frontrunner Donald Trump has laid out his own immigration plans, which includes building a wall across the U.S. Mexico border, tripling the number of immigration and customs enforcement officers, ending birthright citizenship among other changes, according to his website. In the wake of the Paris terror attacks, Trump has also said he’s against allowing Syrian refugees in the country.

In contrast, Fwd.us is advocating for a pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States who do not have legal status.

“It’s a good time to inform people of the stakes,” Rob Jesmer, a veteran Republican political operative and campaign manager at Fwd.us told POLITICO. “There is a lot of focus on one candidate, frankly,” he added of Trump, “(but) there are several who are out of the mainstream. … From a policy situation if we nominate any of those people we are going to lose. No two ways about it.”

Fwd.us made up 75 percent of all paid media spent in 2013 and 2014 to support immigration reform, POLITICO reports.

Immigration isn’t the only cause that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is funding. The 31-year-old billionaire, who just became a father, announced Tuesday that he and his wife Dr. Priscilla Chan were giving away 99 percent of their $45 billion in Facebook stock to fund an initiative to “advance human potential and promote equality for all children.”

Fwd.us is a front for US corporate labor dumping and is 100% reprehensible in its actions and goals.

  • teeee

It is time to enforce our immigration laws we already have, period!

  • noonman

Yes by all means let’s spend more money, to get more immigrants over here so we can spend more taxpayer money on them. And stress out all our resources for them. Hey we might get lucky and get a few ISIS mixed in for good measure. Just like Paris did! Now closed the damn borders you do nothing sorry president. Send the Muslims home, especially the ones who have over-stayed their visa and anyone that is on a watch list or under suspicion.

  • erniekcet

    Dump Facebook stock.

  • LaughingMonkey

No large company or corporation that benefits from using cheap, illegal labor should have any influence over U.S. policy.

  • Dan

And here’s nothing you can do about it because he has the money and that gives him the “right” to dictate, like anything else in this crappy world that is ruled by money! At least this one is smart, what about the kardashians? They got rich on doing what/ Nothing. But they would laugh on your face and do whatever tey want to do because they can.

The last thing we need is more people in this country! A report came out a few weeks ago that said 82% of legal & illegal immigrants use our welfare system & other benefits, much more than natural citizens. Enough! Give the 12 million dis-placed American STEM workers their jobs back! You & other CEO’s just want the foreign cheap labor you cheap un-American jerk!

Zuckerberg wants to import millions of STEM workers to depress American wages. He’s also for importing millions of cheap labor from third world countries.

  • Law.Abider

ANOTHER scam by this scam artist. He wants to import cheap H-1b immigrants to take American jobs. Then he is shielding billions of dollars from taxes so his child can manage all the wealth, spend what she wants and the money will be shielded from taxes. He’s not really going to help anyone with that money. Only a paltry percentage is required to be spent each year by the charity according to IRS rules. Lying scammer all the way and the press is buying into it.

“Fwd.us is advocating for a pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States who do not have legal status.” Zuckerberg is rewarding folks who disrespect our laws and our country. Zuckerberg’s actions are a magnet for millions offuture migrants to flood our unprotected borders!

  • Gus Grissom

Zuckerberg would be shrieking if millions of 3rd world foreigners moved to Israel!

  • CaMa

Why does Zuckerman and his buddies hate the middle class? I want them to be deported asap he can use that 43 billion he promised deport them than he and his buddies can make the illegal’s countries better.

  • john

Why not send the millions to Israel, Zuckerburg? Makes you wonder what this a-hole’s motive is! Oh yea, TRUMP all the way baby!!!

  • maraba3

Zuckerberg hates the American worker…. He would love to expand H-1B beyond what is even meaningful. But the point is this:his money power is allowed to shape public policy? The American democracy is completely broken due to such power of money.
