San Jose based Hera Systems said Monday that it will launch nine high resolution satellites next year that will beam global imagery to mobile devices.

The nine will be followed by more as the young company, formed in December 2013, expands its constellation to 48 satellites as demand grows.

The satellites will cover the entire globe at varying times of day, Hera s announcement said. Data will include analytics.

Today s customers want and expect a variety of features and intelligent analytics capabilities from a single source – and they expect value for every dollar spent, said Bobby Machinski, CEO of Hera Systems

Hera has a team of about 30 people working on satellite design. It claims to be the only company offering fresh, intelligent, one-meter and higher resolution imagery and video of any location on the globe.

The company recently completed a Series A funding round.
