Facebook s NewsFeed stories just got more musical.

The social media giant said Thursday that it was releasing a new feature on its iPhone app called Music Stories that allows users to listen to 30-second clips of songs from Apple Music or Spotify. They can then share the preview with others, purchase or save the music on the music streaming sites.

Facebook was reportedly talking to major music labels such as Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group and some media outlets in July speculated that the social network would start displaying music videos or even start its own music streaming service.

The company s partnership with Spotify goes back to 2011 when the social media giant started incorporating the music streaming service on its site.
