Good to see you. Here s your key.

Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, during Tuesday night s handover ceremony at the company s Fremont plant, to one of a few Model X owners who got to drive away with their long-awaited electric crossover SUVs.

The ceremony was webcast live last night as Musk showed off the Model X — which was unveiled in 2012 and supposed to be delivered in 2013 — to an adoring crowd who came from around the country. And there was cheering and whooping galore as he personally handed the owners their keys. And talk about customer service — he even hugged a couple of them. (Affection from a rock star CEO, all for about $132,000 for the Signature version.)

But as Louis Hansen wrote, there are still 20,000 customers on the waiting list and it s unclear when they ll get their vehicles. And the company has yet to announce a price for the base Model X. But Musk hinted at the price Tuesday night in a tweet:

Btw, price of Model X is actually only $5k more than S. Lower cost versions coming later.

The Model S starts at about $75,000.
