Pinterest said Thursday that more than 100 million people visit the social bookmarking site, revealing its user numbers publicly for the first time.

Analysts, including the Internet analytics company ComScore, had estimated that the site had more than 70 million users in April.

Launched in 2010, Pinterest allows people to organize, save and share images so they can plan their dream wedding, remodel their homes, try a new recipe or more.

What started as a simple visual bookmarking tool quickly became a catalog of ideas that all kinds of interesting people—architects, designers, gardeners, chefs, parents—used to discover creative ideas they wanted to try. Over the last 5 years, that small group of people has grown into a creative community of more than 100 million people and we re constantly astounded by all the different things Pinterest has inspired them to go do,  Enid Hwang, the company s community manager wrote in a blog post on Thursday.

Pinterest said that the number of users have doubled in the last 18 months and two-thirds of the images that people save come from a business website.

International users have also doubled in the last year, making up 45 percent of the total users worldwide, the San Francisco tech firm said.

Home decor, food, fashion and education are just some of the images that Pinterest users like to save, according to the company.

Valued at $11 billion, Pinterest announced at its San Francisco office in June that it would allow users to buy products they see in pins and has been ramping up efforts to attract more men to a site dominated by women.
