You don t need to be a tech insider to get a sneak peek at some of the coolest new tech innovations. A free tech showcase will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, in downtown Mountain View, featuring the latest products and gadgets created by companies based in the city.

The event, running from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Civic Center Plaza, is free to entrepreneurs and the general public alike, but requires registration. The showcase is sponsored by the City of Mountain View, the Chamber of Commerce and LinkedIn.

Among the innovations on display: electric skateboards and bikes, Google s latest autonomous car and crimefighting robots. There will be live, hands-on demonstrations, and attendees can also check out the latest offerings from LinkedIn, genetic research company 23andMe, photo animation app Piclr and more.

One final bonus: Since it s lunchtime, there will be food trucks on-site.
