“On Facebook you see a lot of violence and pornography. That’s why we thought of creating a network where we could talk about God, love and to spread His word.”

Atilla Barros, web designer and co-founder of Facegloria, a social network launched by evangelical Christians in Brazil that says it has attracted 100,000 users in a month. Facegloria has a list of 600 banned words, prohibits sexy photos and videos of gay people kissing, and more. Instead of a Facebook Like, it has an “Amen” button. The social network is backed by the mayor of the town of Ferraz de Vasconcelos, who says “we want to take on Facebook and Twitter here and everywhere.”
