The long-awaited Oculus Rift virtual reality headset will soon be in the hands of gamers.

The company on Wednesday announced that the headset for virtual reality gaming, which was only available to developers, will go on sale to the public in the first three months of 2016.

Virtual reality is going to transform gaming, film, entertainment, communication, and much more, Oculus wrote in a blog post.

It could also transform social media.

Facebook purchased the virtual reality company last year for $2 billion. Facebook s chief technical officer, Mike Schroepfer said during a developer conference in March that the power of combining virtual reality with Facebook is the ability to bring everyone in these moments in one point in time and have this true sense of being there.

A price for the headset was not disclosed in the post.
