“Stanford grads are not only experienced and talented but they are willing to slide in at the right level.”
— A source explaining to Business Insider why Stanford students are so highly sought-after by Silicon Valley tech companies. Starting pay for an average Stanford grad with a computer science degree is $90,000 a year, the report says, with the bigger tech companies often offering between $100,000 and $150,000 a year — plus stock bonuses. It’s not just what they learn at Stanford — proximity plays a factor too, as students can become immersed in nearby businesses from the start, learning the culture and making important contacts. While not every Stanford grad will end up at Google, vignettes of current students paint a picture of almost unparalleled opportunity for rewarding, if not lucrative, careers. “I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel,” Stanford grad student/entrepreneur John Yang-Sammataro told Business Insider.
