You can trade your Sotheby’s auction paddle for a mouse.


EBay and the storied auction house announced the launch of live auctions on eBay Tuesday.


Just click on ebay.com/sothebys and you can browse and bid to your heart’s content.


The first live Sotheby’s auctions begin April 1.


The two companies have been working on a plan to do this since last July. The first auctions will be a themed New York sale and a Photographs sale, eBay said.


Sotheby’s Chief Operating Officer Bruno Vinciguerra said the online participants will include some “smart new features” like “tastemaker curation, video and articles.


EBay launched live auctions launched live auctions in October, selling things like Elvis Presley’s first record – $300,000 – and other art and collectibles.


The new Sotheby’s platform is live-streamed. The auction house already holds online auctions, but the new arrangement will bring them to potentially a huge audience. EBay claies 155 million global active buyers in 190 countries.
