The iTunes and iBooks stores, plus the App Store and Mac App Store, have been down for more than seven hours, beginning at 2 a.m. PDT, according to status updates on Apple s website. Users from around the world have said on Twitter and elsewhere that they have run into problems; Apple says all users are affected.
Also suffering outages were iCloud Mail and the iCloud service. The status updates page indicates that users may have been unable to sign in for four hours this morning, but that they re now up and running.
Among commenters complaints on Apple s support bulletin board: They get a STATUS_CODE_ERROR message when trying to update apps; they can t make purchases on iTunes; they can t sign in using their Apple IDs on their phones.
