YouTube wants your kids watching its videos, but now you can put limits on what they can view and for how long.

Google plans to launch YouTube for Kids on its Android phones next week, according to USA Today, which broke the news Friday. The service will not be available on Apple s devices, at least not yet.

The new subscription service is the latest of several initiatives by Google and other tech companies to market their content to children with their parents approval. Along with shielding kids from offensive and explicit adult content, the new YouTube channel will also get rid of the comments section at the bottom of videos, which can sometimes attract virulent arguments.

YouTube executive Malik Ducard, who heads up the site s family content, plans to announce the new subscription service at the Kidscreen Summit in Miami on Monday, according to the Wall Street Journal.

No word on whether the new service will also shield kids from advertising.
