If there ever were two tasty ingredients for a business, they would be money and pot.

With marijuana legalization increasingly popular, and legal recreational pot likely heading to the state ballot in 2016, entrepreneurs and investors are turning their attention to cannabis. The new projects include cannabis-news apps, online marketplaces to bid on the best pot deals, GPS-enabled tools to find the nearest pot club and pot delivery services.

Enter into the fray Meadow, a San Francisco startup that connects Bay Area residents to on-demand medical marijuana delivery. The company has launched a new service to send a doctor to your house for an at-home medical cannabis evaluation, according to a news release.

Yes — with a swipe of your smartphone, a licensed physician will come to your home or office and give you a checkup — and write you a prescription for medical marijuana so you can legally purchase it.

According to Meadow, with its latest service, called CannabisMD, the physician will determine if cannabis will benefit a patient s health and well-being (and) also provide education and guidance around managing particular symptoms, types of cannabis products, methods of ingestion, and proper dosage.

A CannabisMD physician s advice is always unbiased, impartial, and patient-specific …. they are paid to assess a patient s medical needs and, in their best medical judgment, recommend an appropriate therapy, the company said.

The company announced on Wednesday it received funding from Mountain View accelerator Y Combinator — the first cannabis investment by YC. And very likely, the first of many. By 2019, the legal cannabis market is projected to be worth $11 billion.

The CannabisMD service expands Meadow s core product, an app that is a full-service cannabis concierge where users can view menus at local dispensaries and order pot on-demand from a desktop or mobile device. Users need to upload their California ID and physician s recommendation to Meadow s secure database to have their credentials verified.

Instacart delivers your groceries, GrubHub delivers your pizza and now Meadow delivers your cannabis, said Meadow Co-founder and CEO David Hua.
