In many ways we are hacking love… in technology people have higher appetites for risk.

Miju Han, a product manager at an unnamed Bay Area tech company, talking about being polyamorous, or having multiple partners. Han — who has a fiancé but also dates a couple of other guys, plus a woman — tells CNN that a real downside to being non-monogamous is facing discrimination, although she doesn t worry about it because she works in the tech industry. I have the luxury of talking about polyamory openly because, to be frank, I work in tech, and I could find another job if something were happening to me as a result of lifestyle choices.  (See Han talk about her lifestyle in the video below.)

Chris Messina, former Googler and a tech entrepreneur known for being the godfather of the Twitter hashtag, is pragmatic about the whole thing: We re a very data-driven culture, so if you re trying to build a product — to draw an analogy — and it s failing 50 percent of the time, you might want to consider the design and think about ways of improving it, he tells CNN.
