It s lights, camera, action at Steve Jobs childhood home.
Crews working on a biopic of the late Apple CEO began shooting on Friday in the garage of the modest Los Altos home where Jobs grew up, CNET reported. No detail seemed too small for the crew as they erected cinderblock and wood shelves, littered the space with vintage knickknacks such as an 8-track player and a stereo and even hung a poster of Bob Dylan. (Jobs love for the singer was legendary.)
The garage, site of untold hours of collaboration between Jobs and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, is a key setting for the upcoming film, which centers on three landmark product launches. When filming ramps up later this month, crews will descend on Cupertino and other local cities, according to a post by a casting agency. Keep an eye out for Michael Fassbender dressed as Jobs, Seth Rogen channeling Woz, and Kate Winslet as a female lead.
Filmmakers have combed the Bay Area for shaggy-haired, bearded men to play Jobs early 1980s contemporaries, putting out a call for extras who are willing to forego shaving and cutting their hair. They re even seeking cars made before 1983 in their quest to capture the time period. Check back with SiliconBeat for more details as the filming progresses.
