Facebook has bought an 18-month-old Palo Alto startup, Wit.ai, arming itself for what could be a voice command race with Apple s personal assistant Siri, Google s Android dictation and other players who have developed their own speech-recognition software.
Terms of the deal weren t disclosed, but Wit.ai, backed by Y Combinator, announced it was joining the social network Monday.
