Casting agency combs the Bay Area for hairy men for Steve Jobs biopic

Calling all shaggy-haired, bearded, Bay Area men: You could get some face time in the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic.

Beau Bonneau Casting has put out a call for paid extras to appear in the latest film to document the life of the legendary Apple co-founder, according to a post on Project Casting and an email obtained by SiliconBeat. While the casting agency is also seeking some female extras, men between the ages of 18 and 40 with flexible schedules are in greatest demand. Filming is set to begin in the Bay Area early in the New Year.

Starring Michael Fassbender as the fiery entrepreneur, the film centers on three products that Jobs launched in the 1980s and 1990s. To stay faithful to the period, the filmmakers are combing the Bay Area for extras with lush manes. Men are encouraged not to cut their hair, and to note in their applications if they are willing to forego shaving. Women should lay off the chunky highlights and report for duty with natural-looking hair. The casting agency also put out a call for cars made before 1983.

Here’s hoping the supporting players will be easier to track down than the leading man. The filmmakers struggled to find an actor who was up for the Jobs part, shuffling through stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale before Fassbender signed on. The drama over the film was aired in leaked emails exchanged by Sony executives, entertaining viewers long before the curtain rose.

Beau Bonneau Casting was not available for comment over the holidays.
