Peter Thiel is known for his big bets like PayPal and Facebook.

With his campaign contributions, the Libertarian Thiel influences the Republican party, as Heather Somerville wrote recently.

And now he is relying on human growth hormones in the hopes of making it to his 120th birthday.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV s Emily Chang, Thiel outlined steps he is taking to reach his goal (one thought, why does Thiel think 120 is optimal?)

Thiel has invested in biotech companies that are working on issues of aging, he said. He has largely given up sugar. He eats a mostly Paleo diet, which attempts to mimic what early humans ate.

The caveman diet doesn t get you to 120, he said.

So he is also taking the human growth hormone HGH, which he calls the main drastic thing I am doing.

You can almost see Chang sit up at that tidbit. On a daily basis?

Thiel: On a daily basis.

Chang: Really?

It helps maintain muscle mass so you are much less likely to get bone injuries, arthritis, stuff like that as you get older, he said. There is always a worry it will increase your cancer risks….I m hopeful we will get cancer cured in the next decade.

Then he moved on to resetting individual s bacteria ecosystems.
