Two of California s top organizations representing hundreds of biotech and other life-science companies throughout the state have agreed to merge.

By the end of the first quarter next year, BayBio and the California Healthcare Institute will become the California Biomedical Innovation Alliance, the groups announced Monday.

The new organization s CEO will be Sara Radcliffe, executive vice present of the Washington, D.C.-based Biotechnology Industry Organization.

As our member organizations face an increasingly complex environment, they require an advocate that is best able to advance the policies and goals that will enable their success, said BayBio chairman Hal Van Wart in a press release. He will become the new group s initial vice chairman, the release said.
