Fully one-quarter of California households do not have high-speed Internet at home. This is not acceptable.

– Sunne Wright McPeak, president and CEO of the California Emerging Technology Fund, which sponsored a new Field Poll showing the so-called digital divide remains a serious problem in California, according to an article by the Merc s Patrick May. According to the poll released Tuesday, broadband adoption rates in California have stagnated since 2010, with access by Latinos, seniors and others lagging behind that of younger adults and those with higher incomes. These findings are a sobering reminder that while we live in a state renowned for technology and innovation, the digital divide is real and impacting millions of Californians, Wright said.
