Google Now’s new parked-car tracker

For all those forgetful folks out there – and you know who you are – here’s a nice new feature from Google to help keep your stress level down.

The Mountain View company’s Google Now feature – an intelligent personal assistant for mobile devices – has been updated to automatically remember where you parked your car.

While some apps already let motorists manually mark the locations of their parked vehicles, “Google’s parking tracker will save your parking location automatically,” notes the Internet news site Ars Technica.

The device reportedly can tell its owner has parked with its Activity Recognition system, which monitors GPS and cell-tower location data along with other sensor information. But it can’t see that data from inside a parking garage, so it only works in street level parking, Ars Technica advises.
