Juniper tops survey for highest average engineer pay

Sure, Facebook and Google regularly top the “best places to work” — perks do make a difference — rankings. But Juniper Networks more than other top tech companies really puts its money where its mouth is.

But it’s not exactly hard out there for a software engineer: The average annual incomes for them at the top 25 companies were more than $100,000, according to a new Glassdoor survey.

At Sunnyvale-based Juniper, software engineers earn an average $159,990. That’s about $32,000 more than the average at Google, which is No. 4, and about $38,000 more than No. 9 Facebook’s  average. Other companies in the top 5: LinkedIn at No. 2, Yahoo No. 3, Twitter No. 5. Apple and Oracle were No. 6 and 7, respectively.

Here’s Glassdoor’s Top 25 list, followed by an average salary comparison for metro areas throughout the nation.

In Juniper, ratio of {Distinguished Engineers, Architects, Principals, Managers, Sr. Managers, Directors, Sr. Directors, VPs, Sr. VPs} to {Engineers} is higher than any other company. Naturally, when the salary is averaged out by the equation [total-salary/total-employees], it will be on the higher end.
