Quoted: Apple's Jonathan Ive drops a hint, barely

“I would love, love, love to show you what we are working on now, but I’d lose my job.”

Jony Ive, Apple’s chief designer, in an interview with USA Today. Yes, Apple has been unusually talkative lately. (See yesterday’s Quoted.) And yes, let the speculation begin. Apple smartwatch? A smart TV, perhaps? In the meantime, comfort yourself with the knowledge that Ive and the company are stressing that “we really care. We make products that we think are right, that maybe you can’t easily justify or evaluate, but they feel right.” As for the former Apple execs who say things have changed since the departure of the late Steve Jobs: “People come here for the values that are evident in every product we build,” said software chief Craig Federighi. “You can call that Steve’s legacy, but it’s Apple now.”
