Tesla expands Santana Row showroom

There’s been a lot of news this week from Tesla Motors: profitability and a new financing option for wannabe Model S drivers.

On Thursday, the Palo Alto-based automaker opens its new and expanded store/showroom at Santana Row, San Jose’s high-end shopping plaza. The new store is three times larger than the previous location and two doors down, in the space previously occupied by Burberry. Tesla’s retail strategy is largely designed to get consumers thinking about electric cars as a possibility, and foot traffic at the Santana Row location has been high. The new store also features a Supercharger charging post on display.

The address is 333 Santana Row, Suite 3010; doors open to customers at 10:00 a.m.

The stores are largely the work of George Blankenship, an Apple veteran who is Tesla’s VP of worldwide sales and ownership experience.
