Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Team Wishes Competitor Mozilla Happy Birthday

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer team wished rival Mozilla a happy 15th birthday Tuesday.

In keeping with a cake-giving tradition between the two competitors — they have long sent each other confections upon new Web browser releases — Microsoft sent Mozilla a birthday cake. And they tweeted best wishes: “Congrats @Mozilla on your 15 year anniversary & your continued advocacy for web standards! @firefox.”

Mozilla created a slide show detailing its humble beginnings and growth as a leading open source browser. The Mozilla Profect, launched at Netscape on March 31, 1998, is now used by two million of people every month. This year, Mozilla is launching Firefox Operating System for smartphones.
