Solar photovoltaic (PV) demand will increase by two gigawatts worldwide during 2013, to 31 gigawatts, according to a new report from NPD Solarbuzz. And for the first time, China will outpace Germany to become the world’s leading PV consumer.
“The Chinese end-market will largely compensate for the downturn in demand from Germany, which previously led PV demand,” said Michael Barker, a senior analyst at NPD Solarbuzz.
The full report costs money to read, and I wasn’t able to access it for free. It finds that emerging markets in South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Israel, and Mexico will have a strong impact on global demand going forward.
