Chinese Web site to sell “Made in USA” food

China’s largest online shopping site  is offering American processed food and seafood to the world’s largest online market.

The move comes as Chinese consumers increasingly worry about  food safety.

Tmall, in a special promotion involving the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is pushing American-made food products.

Tmall is using the promotion to help build interest in its pre-sale channel,, which allows consumers to put down deposits on selected items for later delivery, according to a post on Alizila, a blog of the e-commerce giant Alibaba Group. is an independent business under the Alibaba Group.

Recent surveys reveal that the No. 1 issue of Chinese consumers is a fear about product and food safety.
