Activist group urges Apple remove NRA app from its App Store

An online activist group is urging Apple to remove the National Rifle Association’s new app from its App Store.

SignOn.org, which is affiliated with the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org, has launched an online petition to pressure the Cupertino company to remove the app called “NRA: Practice Range.”

“Apple: The National Rifle Association’s new app ‘NRA: Practice Range’ is an insult to the victims of gun violence, having been launched on the one month anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting,” SignOn.org says on its site. “Out of respect for the victims and to signal Apple’s support for common sense measures to help end gun violence, we call on you to rescind your approval of this shameless new product.”

Apple declined to comment on the petition.

The app, which was initially rated for age 4 and up, was changed to age 12 and up.
