Quoted: Eric Schmidt takes on Stephen Colbert

“How do you think Google can become the greatness that we never weren’t?”

Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt, in an appropriately backwards question posed to comedian Stephen Colbert during an interview recently in New York, which was posted on YouTube on Friday. Colbert heaped praised upon the Mountain View tech giant, answering: “Google can be anything you want it to be, because it’s a reflection of your own desire. It’s a portal to want you want it to be. . . . It’s an actuator or pathway to what we want. It’s the finger that allows us to look at the moon,” according to All Things D. Colbert, who plays a conservative pundit on TV, chatted with Schmidt to promote his new book, “America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren’t.” Colbert, in fact, found out Google is more than he expected it to be, discovering that people can even buy a paper copy of his book through Google Play.
