China sends love — and lots of money — to Apple

Chinese consumers continue to gobble up Apple products, company CEO Tim Cook said Thursday.

Speaking on a conference call with analysts, Cook said sales in Greater China — China, Hong Kong and Taiwan — now represent 15 percent of Apple’s business.

Revenue for the fourth quarter was $5.7 billion, he said. “That’s up 26 percent year-over-year. We launched portables for the first time in July. IPad was up 45 percent in China, iPhone was up 38 percent — all-in-all a fantastic quarter.”

For the just concluded fiscal year, the Asian region garnered Apple $23.8 billion in revenue.

“That’s up more than $10 billion year over year,” Cook said.
