Video: In the future, we will all have our own Hug-bot

It is a problem as old as mankind. Too many people. Not enough hugs. You’ve had a long week at work, you come home, and there is no one to hug. For years, researchers have been trying to conceive of ways to fill in what’s become known as the “Hug Gap.”

But today, I bring you hope. It comes courtesy of Prof. Pieter Abbeel and his crack team at the UC Berkeley Robot Learning Lab. They have developed PR2. And among PR2′s talents is giving hugs.
