The Great Recession - on film - this Friday
My friend Austin Chu and his brother have made a documentary based on their six-month journey throughout the United States looking to find the human face of the Great Recession. That’s the same recession, by the way, that led to Austin being laid off in 2008, prompting him to hit the road with his camera.
You can see the movie - The Recess Ends - at the Victorian Theater in SF this week. It’s free, since Austin and his brother are paying the rental costs out of their own pockets. Doors open at 7 and the movie starts at 8 p.m.

It’s the last day of 2009 and the Bank Executive originators of all those toxic loans can happily ring in the new year, knowing that they’ve prompted a new form of suicide here in the Bay Area, Suicide by CalTrain.
I’m not impressed with these so-called ‘Stewards of our Economy’.
Barney Franks and Chris Dodd have cursed at the greedy banks for causing this depression, railing against them, the Democrats taking over the White House and Senate (already controlled congress over three years) running on a one word catch phrase….. oh, wait a minute, wasn’t it was those very Democrats who decided to roll the dice with Freddie and Fannie. But it is so convenient to blame everying on Bush. You fools.

Jeff, are you still smoking weed? Wakeup, this is not the ‘70
anymore. So stop acting like those lazy and corrupted people
and get with the program by raising your voice against ways
or excuses for corporate America to stop outsourcing your
job oversea. Once they ship your job oversea for slave labor,
who’s the fool now????
For once, just stop blaming which party is at fault. I don’t
remember Bush anything to prevent this crisis. If he did care
about US, he wouldn’t even start WARs (i.e. Weapon of Mass
Destruction) where most of the $$$ goes to Haliburton! On
the other sides, OBAMA should stop preaching rather and
start acting. Gov are corrupted as hell, it just that we have to
choose the less evil. Gov are for the people, if they control us, eh
then who’s keeping an eye on them???
