Lousy odds for job-seekers
It’s ain’t pretty, but a new report out today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that folks like our three Pink Slip 2.0 participants will continue to face heavy competition in the workplace:
It says “the competition for available jobs, which was already stiff in March, became even stiffer in April. According to the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) the number of job seekers for every available position jumped again in April to 5.4, up from 4.8 in March and from 1.7 in December 2007 when the recession began.

I’ve been laid off for 3 months already and only had 1 phone
interview, let alone an offer. Has anyone found an engineering
job recently? I’m starting to lose hope now.
