Kris checks in from the road
This just in:
I’m actually writing to you today from Salt Lake City. I’m visiting family friends out here until Sunday.
Funny how things work out, actually. When I went to the airport to leave on Wednesday, I was recognized by one of the airlines desk personnel. So when I casually asked if there were any First Class seats that were cancelled - she was more than happy to ablidge, and better still, printed the boarding pass with no upgrade fee! It’s the first time since 1993 I ‘ve flown in the front of the plane (and that was only because United oversold our flight).
I thought the maintenance flight on the Gulfstream G-V private jet would ruin commercial travel forever for me (Which it did). Flying First class is clearly the only way to deal with commerical air travel. It certainly made sure the beginning of the trip statred off right.
Now to work on some real sweet talking skills at the Salt Lake Airport for a First Class seat on the B-757 trip home.
Not to waste the opportunity, I already dropped by the Salt Lake Jet Center (”Thanks, but no thanks”) and even though it wasn’t the real reason I’m out here - it certainly couldn’t be a bad idea to check anyway. So, despite the job search still as frustrating as ever - it would appear networking and flying can flip one’s attitude - for now, at least.
Did we figure out a date and time for drinks? Liquor me up enough, and I probably wouldn’t mind a camera and recorder there…lol
