Google Ad Exec Jumps to Bunchball

amy_headshotThe roster of Google advertising executives who have left the Internet’s biggest advertising company in favor of more attractive opportunities elsewhere keeps getting longer.
On Wednesday BunchBall, a San Jose company focused on customer engagement technology, announced it had hired Amy Richards, former vice president of publisher services for the DoubleClick Advertising Exchange to be senior vice president of product marketing.
The San Jose company, which started out providing flash-based gaming widgets, has evolved into a measurement and metrics shop under the leadership of Peter Daboll, former chief of insights for Yahoo and chief executive of comScore Media Metrics.
David Rosenblatt, former chief executive of DoubleClick, left Google last month, joining about half-a-dozen newly departed top advertising executives.
Other former Googlers include Tim Armstrong, the top salesman for the Americas, who is now chief executive of AOL and Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, who oversaw Asia-Pacific and Latin American and is now a ceo-in-residence at Accel Partners.
Armstrong successfully recruited Jeff Levick, formerly vice president for industry development and marketing for the Americas at Google, to serve as president for global advertising and strategy at AOL.
The departures reflect ongoing turmoil in the sales division.
In April, shortly after announcing 200 layoffs in the sales and marketing division, Omid Kordestani, Google’s top salesman stepped down from his post, though he remains at the company as a senior advisor to Chief Executive Eric Schmidt and co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
Last week, Google confirmed it had reshuffled the division, now headed by Nikesh Aurora, president, global sales operations, and a former top T-Mobile marketing exec, and eliminated some additional jobs. Where the division was previously organized by region and industry, it will now just be organized by industry.
